Financial client
Objective
Upgrade the network infrastructure of hundreds of locations of a newly acquired bank, allowing those new branches to join the parent-bank network.
Background
The client's growth strategy led it to acquire a bank in a new market with hundreds of branches. Each of the newly acquired branches needed to join the main network. Due to external considerations a short time frame for the upgrade was the only option and meeting that time frame was mission critical to the success of the project.
Our client needed a partner that could handle not only installation of the new networking components, but also project management that included coordination of the engineers, local support personnel, operations staff and local branch managers and staff.
Strategy
BEI recommended regionalizing the locations to ensure that technicians and local branch personnel were properly matched for availability, so that precious time was conserved and time lines were met. BEI recognized the need for this project for daily communication channels. This daily vigilance was the key that kept this fast-moving project in line. BEI's flexibility and nimbleness allowed us to respond to unforeseen site availability and equipment-shipping issues encountered during the process.
Results
Our client's newly acquired locations were brought on board within the time lines and budget as initially scoped. Customers and employees experienced a seamless transition.
Communications client
Objective
Deploy a new telephony network for a new Voice-over-IP (VoIP) product, which included readiness testing, serviceability, corporate standards compliance, and network hardware and software upgrades.
Background
Our client's growth strategy included a new service offering to its residential customers, VoIP. That commitment required multiple VoIP line migration projects in order to offload existing customer lines onto new switches, mitigating network capacity issues.
Strategy
In order to achieve project milestones at every step, coordination among the various cross-functional teams was the key to this project – serving as the critical single point of contact for vendors, suppliers, legal/regulatory resources, local exchange carriers and local engineering teams. In addition to serving in that pivotal position, the project also required project management of several projects within the larger: deployment of 4 Cedar Point Safari and 2 Nortel CS2K VoIP switches; large-scale enterprise-wide telephony hardware upgrade projects; field trials of new software releases; and method of procedure documents.
Results
50,000+ customer lines were successfully migrated to new switch platforms with a nearly flawless 99.9% success rate, utilizing less than 5 minutes of per-customer downtime. We call that a success, and so did the client!
Communications client
Objective
Alleviation of the management of a corner-stone product, in order for the client to focus its limited resources on new product lines.
Background
This organization called BEI to manage one of its existing products, both the technical support and project-based installations and upgrades to its customer base. With this management off its plate, the organization could focus all of its resources on new product lines, thereby increasing its market share.
Strategy
The key to success for this project was a transparent, seamless transition from our client to BEI, requiring easy flow of information between our client, its customers and BEI. Our client wanted its corporate clients to be unaware of the transition, and BEI created an infrastructure on our side for a transparent transition, including phone lines, support staff, training schedules and project management teams.This project includes facilitation of engineering design and configuration, integration for new platform deployments and system expansions, management of software and hardware upgrades and coordination of engineering support for 30+ cable companies in the United States, Canada and Latin America.
Results
Our client has felt so secure with BEI's management of this critical corner-stone product, that it has transitioned 90% of its North American clients to BEI, including the technical project management to support those clients. And, BEI has recently taken the lead on Latin America. In the 18 month time frame since BEI has taken management of this project, our client has developed two new exciting product lines, and that was why we were called.
